# OpenShorts

OpenShorts is an AI short-video tool for creators of long podcasts, interviews, livestreams, and courses, with cloud service and self-hostable builds. Upload local video or import a YouTube link; AI finds shareable clips and converts them to 9:16 vertical, then add captions, openers, visuals, or multilingual dubs before download or direct post to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. [Core features] AI highlight detection: after import, generate word-level timestamp transcripts and scene boundaries, then combine text and visuals to pick 3 to 15 candidate clips—less scrubbing the timeline by hand. Smart vertical rebuild: auto-crop landscape to 9:16; single-person shots keep the subject centered via face tracking; multi-person or scenery keeps full width with blurred fill for short-video viewing. Captions and multilingual dubs: auto word-timed captions burned in; AI can dub audio into 30+ languages, then re-transcribe the target track so captions match the dubbed voice.
