Overview

BaoCut is a desktop AI video agent developed by Jim Liu and community contributors, targeting video creators, editors, and users who need to process multi-language videos. It hopes to solve the problem that the results generated by AI video tools are difficult to continue editing: subtitles, translations, dubbing, clips and animations are all saved in the same editable timeline, rather than just outputting a finished film. Users can describe tasks in natural language or create videos starting from templates. BaoCut can process existing materials and generate video content based on creative briefs; it supports access to agent engines such as Claude Code and Codex CLI, and can use local models or configure online services. The software currently provides macOS and Windows desktop versions, and the agent function requires a separate connection to the logged-in engine. The core function is editable timeline collaboration: agents can modify specified subtitles, shots or dubbing as required, and the operation results are retained in the video timeline, and users can continue to adjust or undo them. Video transcription and subtitle translation: Convert the video into a document with time information, translate it sentence by sentence and generate bilingual subtitles; you can continue to modify the subtitles, or export subtitled videos or SRT and WebVTT files. Dubbing and spoken word editing: supports the separation of vocals and background sounds, generates cross-language dubbing, and can also remove spoken words, long pauses and re-recorded clips on the timeline.
