# Zhu Li

Founder and CEO of Deptrum. Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University and a doctorate in electrical engineering from UC Berkeley. During doctoral study, invented the first artificial chameleon skin, selected for Optics of the Year in 2015, and developed the first flexible VCSEL at a wavelength of 1550nm. Established in 2018, Deptrum focuses on full-stack 3D vision solutions and nanophotonics. Selected among OPN’s 12 entrepreneurs to watch by the Optical Society, the only honoree from China.
