From Ruian, Wenzhou; holds a doctorate. Resigned from the University of Melbourne’s neural engineering center in 2014 to return to China and found Nuanxinjia in Hangzhou’s Future Sci-Tech City. Spent 12 years working on implantable visual brain-computer interfaces, leading development of a high-resolution 320-channel retinal chip and completing the world’s first clinical implant of a high-resolution semi-invasive retinal brain-computer interface.
